Tall Ships, Dad Rocks!, Magnets and More at The View, Folkestone

Tall Ships at The View, Folkestone

Wednesday 1st February // Doors 7.30PM // £5

Tall Ships (Big Scary Monsters Records) had an incredible 2011. They played packed shows in New York and Sao Paulo, drew big crowds at Bestival and Hop Farm Festival, and toured with the likes of Minus the Bear and Metronomy. They’re set to become huge in 2012. Without putting too finer point on it, this is one of the last chances you’ll get to see Tall Ships playing at a venue this small.

Support comes from Dad Rocks!, who’s visiting the UK to play some shows with Owen (Mike Kinsella – American Football/Joan of Arc/Cap’n Jazz). And there’s a some truly fantastic locals on the bill too, in the form of Magnets, Natalie Evans and Daniel Addison

Tangled Hair, Love Among The Mannequins & More at Casey’s, Canterbury

Tangled Hair at Casey's, Canterbury

Thursday 24th November // Doors 8PM // FREE ENTRY

Tangled Hair have made quite a name for themselves over the past few years, having released a hugely sucessful demo and EP (on Big Scary Monsters), and playing alongside the likes of Tera Melos, This Town Needs Guns, Tall Ships and Algernon Cadwallader. They’re hitting the road this November along with Love Among The Mannequins (formerly known as Amateurs) – featuring current and ex members of Shoes and Socks Off, Crowns on the Rats Orchestra and Crooked Mountain, Crooked Sea. Support comes from my everyone’s favourite jazzy-post-rock mish-mash Delta Sleep, and young Kentish upstarts Fish Tank. Did I mention that it’s also FREE ENTRY?!

A Free Halloween Gig at Casey’s, Canterbury

Halloween Gig at Casey's, Canterbury

Friday 28th October // Doors 8PM //  FREE ENTRY

Here’s something we’ve been wanting to put on for a long time – a free Halloween gig! Expect bands in scary costumes playing the odd spooky cover, as well as their own tunes, obviously. Delta Sleep return to play Canterbury for the first time in ages. They’re joined by Margate noise-mongers Sky:Lark. Bass and drums duo Wedding are a band we’re really excited to be putting on for the first time, plus our good buddies Yes We Canada are going to be opening the show.

Costumes are strongly encouraged! We may even dig up some prizes to award for the best costumes. Check out the Facebook event to read more about the bans.

Welcome To The New Box Social Web Site

Well – it’s taken me many, many hours to get this thing up and running but it’s finally here. I hope the new layout makes sense.

At the bottom of this post (and all other posts on the site) you’ll see social media icons which you can use to share them on your social networks or add to your Delicious bookmarks. I’ve also installed a ‘Like’ button on posts so you can quickly share the info with your buddies online. Pretty cool, huh?

There’s some buttons on the top right hand side of the page which you can use to get to our Facebook and Twitter pages too. This is some high tech stuff going down.

Anyhow – you can find a list of all of our upcoming gigs in one place. There’s a few bits and pieces announced on the page which you won’t find anywhere else online just yet, so it’s well worth a look! Don’t forget to check out the two posts below too…
